Reloading in the Eternal Adventure

Reloading Weapons

Bows, crossbows and firearms are difficult weapons to use in combat, as they generally have a reload time associated with them.  It takes time to fire and aim efficiently.   Aptitudes such as archery and firearms can help lower this time because the familiarity with the weapon will speed up the reloading.   For each level of an appropriate Aptitude, the reloading time is decreased by 10 seconds.  On the roll of a six on any d6, the weapon will automatically reload.  The following is the chart for basic weapons.  Some weapons may have different times associated with them.

            Bows – 30 seconds

            Crossbows – 50 seconds

            Handgun – 50 seconds

            Rifle – 60 seconds

            Canon – 120 seconds

            Ballista – 300 seconds

            Trebuchet – 300 seconds

From the Arbitrator's Atlas

Randomized Attacks

Sometimes an attack cannot be called, particularly with ballistic attacks, and sometimes the attacker is simply randomly swinging for an attack.  Sometimes a character is attacking into a line or confused battle and might not have a clear target.  These attacks are subject to the random attack chart.

Random ranged attacks are rolled as normal, by using the ballistic offense Style.  If the technique used does not denote the specific target, the randomized chart will apply. Roll 1d6 and consult the chart.  Sometimes a ranged target is concealed behind some cover, or the target is at a strange angle that only exposes certain parts of the body.  In this case, shots that hit the zones protected on the concealed target will simply miss or begin to destroy the concealing protection.

Ranged Random Chart:
1-        Miss (even with a successful attack)
2-        Right Leg
3-        Left Leg
4-        Left Arm
5-        Right Arm
6-        Torso

Random shots for more up close combat will use the following chart.  This chart is designed for wild shots or for when the attacker is blinded or otherwise unable to pick a target to strike. Roll 1d6 to determine the target.

Randomization Chart
1.         Head (Oh no!)
2.         Left Arm
3.         Right Arm
4.         Left Leg
5.         Right Leg
6.         Torso

In the event that multiple people are involved in a combat, the following chart will help determine of the proper target is hit or if friendly fire will claim another victim.  Roll 1d6 and consult the chart then roll the appropriate chart for random hits to close or ranged combat.  This is an especially erratic chart to represent the chaos of the combat.

Friendly Fire Chart:
1.         Hit Friendly
2.         Hit Foe
3.         Hit Neither!
4.         Hit Both!
5.         Hit Friendly
6.    Hit Foe

Schwergwerfer's Children

On a dark and stormy night... That is the way these stories seem to always begin.  My story is no different I suppose.   Aren't we all made from the same parts as the rest of the people?

I was born to serve.  Born to be a  weapon.  My father labored tirelessly to give me what I needed to survive.  He gave me the best of what he had, for that I am eternally thankful.  I am but one of many, yet he gave me his greatest gifts.

I will never forget how I treated him that I cold November evening.  I was a bad, unruly child. My actions led to his death.  I committed patricide on his greatest day.  The fire consumed our home.  The rage was all I had. I would avenge those who vexed my father so. I would reconcile with my rage by carrying out his wishes.

I have learned his secrets since.  My brothers are not as powerful as I, yet we possess great potential.  We are the children of Schwergwerfer!

Charge de l'Aristocrate

Nemeans are often seen in the courts of nobles, making deals and brokering combative arrangements to influence the outcome of battles.  Many outside the faction see this as intrusive and arrogant.  The Nemeans themselves often view their position with a different perspective.  They see that the Nemeans have an obligation to preside over and encourage the development of other factions and even counties, until such a time as they can take their place as responsible affiliates of the kingdom with stability not only economically and socially but militarily as well. More than one duke and more battles than we can catalog have been swayed by the direction that the Nemeans stimulated.

The Noble Obligation of the barony means that the personal goals and desires must often come second to the greater need of those whom the barony sees fit to support and direct.   It has been described as a moral imperative to help the lesser affiliations to better themselves and the kingdom whether they realize the help is given or not. The goals of the Barony, the goals of the Nemean units and the goals of the local counties are not always in unison.  Still, it is the Charge de L’Aristocrate, the Burden of the Nobility that the Nemeans factor when thinking about the direction that the Barony must move in order to protect the interests of the Kingdom and the Barony alike.

The Wyvern Corps

Wyvern Corps

A lesser-known group within the Brotherhood of Balor is the Wyvern Corps.  These warriors are skilled in the ways of espionage and subversion.  Charged with the dangerous tasks of infiltrating other factions, guilds and even noble courts, the Wyvern Corps are known only in rumor outside of the Brotherhood ranks.  Wyverns have trained to blend in with their targets, copy documents and steal important information for the Balor command.  Speculation states that every faction and guild houses at least two members of the Wyvern Corps.  The clandestineness of this group is so great that more often than not two corps members may be working alongside each other and not even know the true affiliation of the other.
